Harvest pricing in 2026: seat prices and usage fees explained

Harvest's paid plans start at $9 per seat per month billed annually ($11 billed monthly) on Teams, and $14 ($17.50) on Enterprise. On Flex billing, charges for active projects, clients, tasks and invoicing are added above an included allowance, and the pricing page doesn't list those rates. There is also a free plan for 1 seat and 2 projects.

Teams and Enterprise come with a 30-day free trial, and the pricing page says no credit card is required. When a trial ends, Harvest's help center says the checkout screen pre-selects Enterprise with annual billing, and you can change both before paying.

How usage charges work: Flex and Unlimited

The seat price isn't always the whole bill. According to Harvest's help center, each paid plan can be billed in one of two ways:

BillingWhat you payIs the amount published?
FlexA rate per active seat, plus charges based on the previous billing period's activity, above a free allowanceSeat price yes. The pricing page doesn't list the per-unit rates or the allowance
UnlimitedThe seat price plus a fixed usage feeSeat price yes. The pricing page doesn't list the fixed fee

What counts as usage on Flex

  • Active projects, active clients and active tasks: only those with time tracked in the period count.
  • Invoicing.
  • Archived, deleted or untouched items don't count, according to the same article.

Why a second bill can be higher than the first

Usage is charged from the previous period, so a first invoice usually covers seats only, and usage first appears at renewal. For new accounts, Harvest says usage charges begin at the second paid renewal. Its help center gives the example of a bill going from a seats-only $44 to $404 once usage is added. It's Harvest's example, not a typical bill: yours depends on your activity.

What each plan includes

The two paid plans also differ in features, which matters when you compare seat prices:

How to find what you'll actually pay

Your account shows the real figure, so start there. Harvest's help center describes these steps for Administrators:

  1. Open Settings → Billing → My usage billing to see current usage and the breakdown of charges.
  2. Open Compare subscription options → Simulate usage changes to model a different number of projects, clients, tasks or invoices.
  3. Compare Flex with the fixed fee on Unlimited at your real activity, for a busy month as well as a quiet one.
  4. Note your renewal date, so you have time to act on what you find.

Seat cost by team size

These figures multiply each published seat price by the team size. They are a floor for Harvest on Flex, because usage isn't included: only your account can tell you that part. To run your own numbers, use the renewal calculator.

The 2026 price increase: what has been reported

Press coverage in August 2026 described large increases for some customers at renewal. Reported cases: UK consultancy: about $130 to $2,110 a month; US customer, annual plan: about $233 to $1,917 a month. Those are individual accounts as reported by the BBC and read by us through Subscription Insider, not what every customer pays, and we haven't seen the invoices. Subscription Insider says Harvest hadn't publicly given a more detailed explanation at the time. Harvest's help center notes that accounts on older legacy plans have different pricing and features.

For context, Harvest's terms now name Bending Spoons Operations S.p.A. as the company you contract with. Subscription Insider dates the acquisition to July 2025.

Your options if the price no longer works

  • Stay and manage usage. Often the least work, especially if you rely on Harvest's integrations or native apps.
  • Change billing or plan. Unlimited swaps usage charges for a fixed fee. Teams costs less per seat than Enterprise, but leaves out profitability reporting and timesheet approval.
  • Move to another tool. Worth it if predictable cost matters more than what you'd give up. Budget time for your history: see how to export your data from Harvest.

How LockedHours prices it

LockedHours costs $6 per seat per month, with every feature included and no usage fees. The price you subscribe at is locked in our terms for as long as your subscription stays active. It's a smaller product: there's no resource scheduling, no native apps and no accounting sync yet. See the side-by-side comparison, or read who it suits and who it doesn't.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Harvest time tracking cost per user?
Harvest's published prices start at $9 per seat per month billed annually ($11 monthly) on Teams and $14 ($17.50 monthly) on Enterprise. On Flex billing, usage charges can be added to that.
Does Harvest have a free plan?
Yes. The free plan covers 1 seat and 2 projects. Harvest's pricing page says the usage of some features may require fees.
Does Harvest charge for projects and clients?
On Flex billing, yes, above a free allowance: Harvest's help center lists active projects, clients and tasks, and invoicing, and only counts items with time tracked in the period. Unlimited billing charges a fixed usage fee instead.
Are Harvest's usage rates published?
Not on its pricing page, as of the date on this page. The exact figures for an account are in Settings → Billing → My usage billing.
Why did my Harvest bill go up?
Harvest's help center points to two things: usage charges first appear at renewal, because they're calculated on the previous period, and older legacy plans differ from the current ones. The billing settings in your account show the breakdown.
Does Harvest have a free trial?
Yes. Teams and Enterprise have a 30-day free trial, and the pricing page says no credit card is required.
