Moving from Harvest
A Harvest alternative for agencies and consultancies: $6 per seat, price locked
LockedHours is web-based time tracking, project budgets, reports and invoicing for firms that bill for their time. It costs $6 per seat per month with no usage fees, the price is locked in your contract while you stay subscribed, and it can import your Harvest account and check the totals. It doesn't have native apps, resource scheduling or accounting sync yet.

LockedHours is an independent product of Network Place S.L. and is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Harvest or its owners. Harvest is a trademark of its respective owner. We refer to it only to describe data-import compatibility and to compare publicly available prices.
Is it right for your team?
It should suit you if
- You want the bill to depend on the number of people, not on how many projects, clients, tasks or invoices you run that month.
- You're an agency, consultancy, studio or architecture or engineering firm that tracks time against projects and invoices clients from it.
- Your history matters: past rates, archived projects, people who have left, old invoices.
- You want profitability reports and timesheet approval without paying for a higher plan. Every LockedHours seat includes them.
- You're comfortable with self-serve setup and support by ticket.
Stay with Harvest, or look elsewhere, if
- You need QuickBooks or Xero sync, or Slack, Jira, GitHub or Asana integrations. Harvest has them; LockedHours doesn't yet.
- Your team depends on native desktop and mobile apps or a browser extension. LockedHours is a web app that you can install from the browser, and timers work offline, but it isn't in the App Store or Google Play.
- You need resource scheduling. Harvest connects to Forecast; LockedHours has none.
- Clients pay invoices online by card. LockedHours records payments, but doesn't take them yet.
- You need SAML single sign-on, phone support, estimates or expense approval. LockedHours offers Google and Microsoft sign-in, support by ticket, and keeps imported estimates without an estimates page.
- You want a vendor with a long track record. LockedHours is a new product.

What it costs by team size
Seat prices only. On Harvest's Flex billing, usage is added on top, and your account shows how much.
| Team size | Harvest Teams, annual | Harvest Teams, monthly | Harvest Enterprise, annual | Harvest Enterprise, monthly | LockedHours |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 seats | $45 | $55 | $70 | $87.50 | $30 |
| 10 seats | $90 | $110 | $140 | $175 | $60 |
| 25 seats | $225 | $275 | $350 | $437.50 | $150 |
| 50 seats | $450 | $550 | $700 | $875 | $300 |
One price for everyone, with no plans to choose between: if you subscribe at $6, section 3 of our terms says we won't raise it while your subscription stays active, and won't add usage fees. Your bill changes only with the number of seats, or if taxes required by law change. Deactivated people imported from Harvest keep their history and don't count as seats.
How to switch from Harvest
- Check your renewal date. Annual plans make it the natural deadline, so start early enough to run both tools side by side.
- Start a trial. 30 days free, no card.
- Create a personal access token in Harvest ID → Developers, as a Harvest Administrator, so the token can read everything. Here's how.
- Paste it and read the preview. You see counts of clients, projects, people, hours and invoices before anything is copied.
- Let the import run. It works in the background and resumes if it's interrupted, and we email you when it's done. Larger accounts take longer.
- Read the verification report. It compares hours per project, person and client, and the total billed per client, with Harvest's figures, and lists any difference. How to read it.
- Invite your team and change over, ideally right after an invoicing run. People can't sign in until you invite them.
The import only reads: nothing in Harvest is created, changed or deleted, so both can run while you check. It uses Harvest's public API, and Harvest may change or limit that API. The token is stored encrypted and deleted when the import finishes.
What comes across, and what doesn't
Clients and contacts, projects with budgets, tasks, people and their rate history, time entries, invoices with lines and payments, and expenses, for whatever your token can read. Estimates are kept and included in the data export, but there's no estimates page. Weeks still waiting for approval in Harvest need to be submitted again if you require approval. The full list is in What comes across from Harvest.
Other kinds of Harvest alternatives and competitors
LockedHours is one option. Depending on why you're leaving, a different kind of tool may fit better:
| If your priority is | Look at | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Paying as little as possible | Trackers with a free tier | Budgets and invoicing are often limited or cost extra. Check seat minimums too |
| Tracking inside your project tool | Add-ons for your task manager | Invoicing and rate history can be thin |
| Running the whole agency in one place | Professional services suites | Higher seat prices and longer setup, in exchange for scheduling and financials |
| Time, budgets and invoicing at a fixed seat price | LockedHours, or similar per-seat tools | Read the renewal terms: a low price today isn't the same as a locked one |
Whichever you pick, these questions are worth asking: is the price written down for renewals, are there usage charges, can you import your rate history, can you get all your data out, and what happens when the trial ends?
Frequently asked questions
- What's a good alternative to Harvest for an agency?
- It depends on what you need to keep. LockedHours suits agencies and consultancies that want time tracking, budgets, profitability reports and invoicing at a flat $6 per seat with their history imported. If you rely on accounting sync, native apps or resource scheduling, it isn't the right fit yet.
- Is LockedHours cheaper than Harvest?
- Per seat, yes: $6 a month against Harvest's published $9 to $17.50, before any usage charges on Harvest's side. The products differ, so compare what you actually use.
- Is LockedHours affiliated with Harvest?
- No. LockedHours is an independent product and isn't affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by Harvest or its owners.
- Can I bring my Harvest data with me?
- Yes. LockedHours reads your account with a personal access token you create and brings across clients, projects, tasks, people, rates, time entries, invoices and payments that the token can read. A report then compares the totals with Harvest and lists any difference.
- Does importing change anything in my Harvest account?
- No. The import only reads, so your Harvest account keeps working as before.
- What happens when the 30-day trial ends?
- The account becomes read-only: nothing is charged and nothing is deleted, and you can still see and export everything. To continue, ask from Help in the app and the subscription is set up.
- Can my team use it on their phones?
- Yes, in the browser, and it can be installed from the browser on computers and phones. There are no apps in the App Store, Google Play or Microsoft Store.
