Duplicate a project
Start a new phase or a similar job from an existing project: the copy keeps its setup, budget, tasks and team, and starts with no time.
Who can do this: Admins and managersUpdated · 2 min read
Step 1: Open the project from Projects.
Step 2: Click Duplicate project at the top right (on a phone, under ⋯).
(opens the full-size image)Step 3: The copy opens on its Edit project page, named Copy of …, with a note saying what was copied. Change the Project name, check the dates and budget, and click Save project.
| Copied | Not copied |
|---|---|
| Client, project type, billing and hourly rate, fixed fee | Tracked time |
| Budget, budget type, monthly reset and alert settings | Invoices and expenses |
| Start and end dates, notes | Code (it's left empty, so two projects don't share one) |
| Tasks, with their billable setting, rates and budgets | Deactivated people and removed tasks |
| Team, with project managers, custom rates and budgets |
The copy is active right away, so the people on its team can track time to it. Archive the original when you're done with it: see Archive or restore a project.
